Facilities Development and Management, Facilities Management, seeks a HVAC Refrigeration Technician to install, repair, overhaul, and maintain heating, ventilating, air conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration systems.

This is a working position with responsibility and accountability for problem solving and resolution to keep buildings and systems operational at all times. This position requires a technical skill set to support cutting edge technology buildings. Troubleshoot, install, repair, and overhaul refrigeration equipment and systems. Operate and monitor computer control system equipment; detect source and nature of system problems. Review, modify, and implement programming changes to building automation system to ensure efficient and effective system operations and conformance with standards and guidelines. Calibrate, repair and replace building automation system sensing devises to specifications. Maintain preventative maintenance records. Read gauges and instruments and adjust mechanisms. Operate refrigeration recovery equipment in compliance with EPA guidelines. Ability to communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform the essential functions of the job.

Chilled Beam Systems
Boilers, Steam Pump, and Steam Condensate pumps and associated systems

DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 7:30AM - 4:00PM
Six years of progressively responsible HVAC or refrigeration experience; OR, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable skills, knowledge and abilities have been achieved. Some positions may require chlorofluorocarbons certification upon employment. Employee may be required to possess a valid US Driver’s license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment.
•Experience in higher education facilities management
•Evidence of graduating from an accredited/certified HVAC Trade School.
•Experience in electrical systems up to and including 480-volt 3-phase systems.
•Experience in commercial/industrial maintenance and repair, rebuilding, and installation of HVAC mechanical and refrigeration equipment.
•Experience in commercial/industrial HVAC troubleshooting for heating, cooling, and electrical.
•Experience in automation systems and process controls.
•Experience in programming of building automation systems and equipment (i.e. JCI Metasys, Siemens, Alerton, Aircuity, Emerson Delta V, Phoenix Lab, Triatek Lab Controls).
•Experience in chilled beam systems.
•Evidence of EPA 608 Universal CFC certification.
•Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices.
Utilize power tools (e.g. drills, generators, saws, lifts, vacuum equipment). Climb ladders, ladder wells, and stairs. Work off ladders using hand tools and power tools to include working off lift platforms and boom trucks at heights above six feet. Use lifting, moving, and rigging equipment to safely move, transfer, or relocate heavy equipment. Operate refrigeration recovery equipment in compliance with EPA guidelines. Handle CFC refrigerant. Work in adverse working conditions such as confined spaces (e.g. tunnels, man holes, vaults), dirty areas, low lighting, and extreme temperatures. Stoop, bend, and reach. Travel throughout campus. Lift up to 75 pounds. Ability to push and/or pull approximately 200-300 pound weight loaded on wheeled maintenance carts to transport tools and equipment throughout campus to job site. Drive University vehicles.

This position is located at the Downtown Phoenix campus, 522 N Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85004.
Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license (minimum Class D) upon employment and maintain throughout employment. Post-offer of employment, selected candidate must possess an acceptable driving record which is 5 or fewer points in the most recent 39 month period from date of hire.
Ability to obtain an EPA 608 Universal Chlorofluorocarbon Certification within five months of employment date.
Must pass pre-employment physical examination post offer of employment to include asbestos worker clearance, respiratory clearance questionnaire and respiratory fit test.
This position requires working a rotating on-call/stand-by schedule and may be called in for emergency response including nights, weekends, and holidays.
