The Department of Middle, Secondary and Mathematics Education is seeking a part-time administrative professional to provide administrative support. The Administrative Assistant represents James Madison University in all interactions and must exhibit high standards of professionalism and customer service.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Providing clerical and support to the Middle, Secondary, and Mathematics Education department head and faculty by providing a well-organized office system support and helping to insure documentation and records are maintained.
-Accessing and maintaining JMU databases, specifically by managing correspondence with program students, managing program student database and tracks student progress in programs, and corresponding with other JMU offices regarding student progress.
-Composing, editing, monitoring and distributing materials handled in the main office.
-Providing neat, professional, and competent work while paying close attention to detail.
-Maintaining records and filing systems for the department.
-Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Programs, especially Excel and Word.
-A general understanding of the role and composition of programs within departments, departments within the colleges and colleges within the university.
-Excellent data management skills are critical along with attention to detail and reliability.
-Strong written language skills and customer service skills are required.
-Technical training/experience in computer applications.
-Works with minimal or no supervision.
-Understanding of office management best practices.
-Experience with JMU Student Administration preferred.

This is a part-time wage position working an average of 29 hours per week over the course of a calendar year with no benefits.
