Accounts Payable Specialist

To continue our standard of excellence, Piedmont is seeking a motivated, reliable leader to join our team as the Accounts Payable Specialist I. Serving as a critical role in the Finance and Accounting department, the Accounts Payable Specialist I is responsible for maintaining files and documentation thoroughly and accurately. The position also reconciles vendor statements, researches, and corrects discrepancies. The successful candidate will possess a basic computer accounting knowledge base. This role reports to the Accounts Payable Manager.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
- Reconcile vendor statements, research, and correct discrepancies
- Sort, organize and match invoices and check requests, set invoices up for payment procedure
- Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
Minimum Qualifications:
- Basic computer and accounting knowledge
- Ability to work well with all levels of management and support staff
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Accounting or relevant experience preferred
- Data entry experience
Work Environment:
- Standard office environment, use of computers and other office equipment
Physical Requirements:
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
