Title: Preschool Lead Teacher 

Reports To: Director of Preschool and Head of School

Status: 10-month, exempt employee

Hours: School year hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 3:30 pm

Attendance at school events may be required.

Purpose of Position:

This is a full-time on-site role for a Lead Preschool Teacher. The Lead Preschool Teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing daily lessons, developing curriculum, and providing early childhood education to preschool-aged children. This position is responsible for instructing students in an independent school environment. Creates lesson plans and a classroom environment that helps nurture confidence, high self-esteem, academic and social emotional growth all while learning through play. The lead teacher will be expected to collaborate on projects with teachers across their department along with working closely and respectfully with their team and paraprofessional. 

Relationships:

The position will work closely with the Director of Preschool, paraprofessional, faculty, parents, and students to accomplish the essential duties and responsibilities noted below.

 

Position Requirements/Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • Experience working with young children
  • Experience in the classroom

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (this list represents highlights):

  • Integrate hands-on learning in classroom
  • Curate a safe and fun learning environment for children in classroom
  • Integrate Georgia Early Learning & Development Standards into lesson plans
  • Create and upload weekly lesson plans via shared Google Drive
  • Collaborate with grade level team as well as department team
  • Work with outside resources for children such as Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Play Therapists, and/or Physical Therapists
  • Communicate proactively with families
  • Actively engage in the life of the school community
  • Conduct multiple assessments throughout the year
  • Conduct two or more Parent/Teacher conferences with each family
  • Differentiate children’s learning

  • Ability to build rapport with children and their families
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information regarding students, employees, and others.
  • Ability to support the social-emotional learning needs of school-aged children
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience in lesson planning, curriculum development, and early childhood education
  • Excellent rapport with parents and co-workers
  • Ability to use technology in the classroom and communication with parents
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of complying with Bright From The Start rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of Infant and Toddler Environment Rating Scale and/or Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale
  • Knowledge of Georgia Early Learning & Development Standards
  • Creativity in developing engaging and age-appropriate learning activities
  • Passion for working with young children and shaping their educational experience
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

 

Physical Demands:

  • Consistently able to observe and respond to children’s needs, emergencies, and/or conflicts that might occur in the classroom, on the playground, and/or in common areas.
  • Consistently able to supervise children outside while exposed to the sun, rain, and/or weather and temperature changes.
  • Consistently able to establish clear communications orally and in writing to children, parents, co-workers, and administration.
  • Consistently able to deal effectively with the stress involved in working closely with children, parents, coworkers, and administration.
