Description

The School of Art invites applications for a non-tenure‐track Assistant Teaching Professor position in Graphic Arts Management/Graphic Design beginning in August 2024.

Our dynamic faculty function as collaborative, innovative, inclusive, and adaptive members of the College of Fine Arts community, both within and beyond the home unit, serving as quality teachers, productive in creative and/or scholarly work, engaged in public service activities, and contributing to the Ball State and Muncie communities and beyond. Additionally, lifelong learning at Ball State University extends educational engagement beyond the classroom and includes learning for professional development, personal enrichment, or other goals throughout one's lifetime. Faculty will be expected to participate in the department's, college's, and university's lifelong learning opportunities when available and may be assigned teaching responsibility in this area as part of their overall responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the Graphic Design and Graphic Arts Management program, including introductory computer applications, web design, motion graphics, packaging, and/or cross media communications
  • The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to and participate in the life and development of the department, advise students, serve on committees, and participate in the broader university and disciplinary communities
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success and curricular innovation
  • Other teaching duties based on programmatic need and the expertise of the faculty hired individual may be assigned
Salary and benefit packages for this position are competitive, with salaries for this opportunity beginning at $50,000 annually.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in graphic arts management, graphic design, or related field from an accredited institution by date of appointment OR
  • Five years of documented industry experience in graphic design, graphic arts management, or a related field
Authorization to work in the US

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of teaching experience at the college level
  • Expertise in packaging, variable data printing, and/or cross media communication

Glick Center for Glass. Students and faculty work closely with David Owsley Museum of Art on campus, among the finest university art collections in the nation.
