Job Description:


Budget Title: Staff Associate (SL-4)

Salary: $70,000 - $75,000

With a 75,000 square expansion to the current facility breaking ground in the summer of 2024, this is an exciting time to join the Campus Recreation team and shape the future of recreation at Binghamton University. Campus Recreational Services seeks an experienced professional who is adept in creating collaborative partnerships across campus. The Associate Director is a senior leader assisting the director in the management and operation of facilities and programs. Some evening and weekend work will be required.

Personnel
  • Direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Facility Operations, Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness, and indirect supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator, Coordinator of Fitness and Wellness and a part-time Equipment Technician.
  • Indirect supervision of more than 90 students including two graduate assistants.
Facility Operations
  • Direct the daily operations for the East Gym Recreation Center.
  • Manage the scheduling of student staff to ensure the facility has adequate staffing for all shifts including opening and closing shifts.
  • Prepare facility operational and fitness and wellness budgets while monitoring of student time sheets.
  • Submit service requests to Facilities Maintenance, maintaining a spreadsheet of service requests and following up as needed.
  • Schedule and manage all equipment repair and replacement.
  • Maintain a log of all equipment including warranties, maintenance records and repairs.
  • Assist with emergency management response of fire and safety situations, utility service interruptions, weather events, emergency on-call safety and security systems.
  • Responsible for updating policies and procedures that are related to facility operations.
  • Maintain accurate CPR certification records of all student and professional staff and ensure re-certification classes are offered throughout the year.
  • Coordinate safety audits and inspections of all facilities to identify and address safety concerns.
Programming
  • Supervise a comprehensive Fitness and Wellness program which includes a Personal Training certification program, and hiring and training Group Fitness Instructors.
  • Assist with scheduling all internal and external facility requests.
  • Manage the open recreation schedule and inventory of equipment.
  • Coordinate department wide fall & spring student staff trainings
  • Create intradepartmental student recognition programs.
  • Identify and coordinate student development opportunities.

Requirements:


Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • At least 3 years of experience managing campus recreation programs and facilities, including supervising professional and student staff
Preferred:
  • Master's Degree in related field
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated progressive professional experience in a collegiate recreation setting; managing facilities, programs and professional staff
