Job Description:

Summary:

The Training Grants Specialist supports faculty and administrators across the University and affiliated hospitals with data to develop new training grant proposals, renewal training grant applications and annual progress reports for institutional training grants. Supervised by the Program Director, this role will advise faculty and staff on pertinent themes and components unique to training grant applications, NIH institutes and other funding agencies. The Training Grant Specialist is responsible for maintaining resources and disseminating knowledge to support training grant faculty and administrators to ensure compliance within funding agency parameters. They will foster a community with training grant faculty and administrators to maintain best practices and policy, in collaboration with Brown's grants administration offices. The Training Grant Specialist will serve as representative and liaison within the broader National Training Grant Community of Practice Consortium to stay abreast of initiatives and policies. They will develop and augment centralized platforms that interface with faculty and administrators to enhance accuracy and transparency of programmatic reporting, thus bolstering the success of current and future programs.

Job Qualifications:

Education and Experience
  • Required: Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of related experience, preferably in a University setting.
  • And/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred: Experience and success in managing multiple concurrent projects with short turnaround time.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with NIH training grants or other federal funding agencies.
Job Competencies
  • Demonstrated technological skills with Google Suites, bibliographic, and FileMaker/ database programs and familiarity with web-based design.
  • Proficiency in managing large databases and data sets.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work under pressure for multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong data presentations skills.
  • Detail-oriented with high standards for accuracy.
  • Experience and success with grant preparation and submissions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and teamwork with multiple parties including students, faculty and administration.
  • Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
