Overview:

The Department of Agricultural Business is searching for a faculty member to instruct undergraduate students, conduct scholarly and applied research, and engage in service-related activities. The primary teaching and research interests will be in organizational behavior and human resources, agri-food retailing and wholesaling, with a secondary focus in sustainable business practices in agriculture and food production. Specific assignments are dependent on departmental needs and the background of the individual.

Qualifications:

Required Education (from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent.):
  1. A doctorate (Ph.D.) in Agricultural Business, Agricultural Economics, or closely related disciplines from an accredited (or equivalent) institution.
  2. Applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered; however, for appointment, the doctorate must be completed by August 1, 2024

Required Experience:
  1. Evidence of teaching at the university level or interest in undergraduate teaching,
  2. Evidence of scholarly productivity,
  3. Evidence of effective communication skills,
  4. A commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Preferred Experience:
  1. Experience with the use of instructional technology,
  2. Experience establishing close working relationships with agricultural industries, organizations, and/or governmental agencies,
  3. Experience obtaining external grants /contracts,
  4. Evidence of commitment to distance learning, online teaching, and/or service learning
  5. Experience working collaboratively on multidisciplinary teams,
  6. Experience or interest in supervision of undergraduate senior projects, student research, advising student clubs and national competition teams,
  7. A record of active participation or leadership roles in relevant professional organizations.

Commensurate with education and experience the anticipated hiring range is $7,400-$7,700 per month for Assistant Professor (12 monthly payments per academic year). As a member of the 23-campus CSU System, we offer an extremely competitive benefits package.

About the College and Department:

The Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology offers high quality undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs in the major areas of agricultural business; animal sciences and agricultural education; food science and nutrition; industrial technology; plant science; and viticulture and enology. Faculty and students conduct applied research and public service in selected areas of agriculture, food sciences, industrial technology, and family sciences. Programs combine a science, technology, and management focus with experiential learning.
