Assistant Vice President for International Affairs & Senior International Officer


California State University, Fresno (Fresno State) known for its strong commitment and achievements to advance student success, seeks a motivated and engaged international education leader to serve as its next Assistant Vice President for International Affairs and Senior International Officer (AVP).

Reporting to the Dean of the Division of Continuing and Global Education (CGE), the AVP will lead multi-faceted global engagement efforts and initiatives to make all Fresno State students prepared to join a competitive and global workforce. The AVP will provide strategic leadership for the development, operations and administration of a full range of international education programs within Fresno State's International Office. This campus leader will be a champion for global engagement, impacting every student's experience.

In this role, the AVP will:

  • Serve as the Senior International Officer for the campus, as the primary point of contact to the Chancellor's Office for issues relating to international affairs.

  • Actively advocate for international student issues and for international education across the campus, serving as a spokesperson on these topics as needed.

  • Share responsibility with CGE leadership to oversee and administer the Study Abroad International, International Exchanges and travel study programs.

  • Develop, administer and assess a full range of recruitment activities in order to support the increase in enrollment of international students at the University and be accountable for attaining annual enrollment goals.

  • Mentor and guide international admissions officers and those connecting with prospective international students, both virtual and in-person.

  • Collaborate with the Office of Student Activities and Leadership Development in order to cultivate and expand student clubs and organizations involved in international issues.

  • Provide direction and leadership in the development of strategy, leveraging organizational strengths and relationships to execute on key operating/financial metrics and market growth.

    Competitive candidates will have administrative experience in an international programs environment and will hold a master's degree in a field related to the areas under the responsibility of the assistant vice president. This position serves as Fresno State's Principal Designated School Official (PDSO). As such, this person must be eligible to serve as PDSO as defined in US Immigration and Customs Enforcement 8 CFR 214.3 and must be able to perform all duties associated with such designation.

    The estimated salary range for this position is $150,000 to $175,000, depending on experience.
