Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Director of the Career Center the Associate Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Employer Relations and Career Readiness units of the department. The incumbent provides strategic leadership for developing, implementing, and evaluating recruiting systems, programs, and events to connect students, faculty, and alumni with employers.
  • Manages the employment services and career readiness team and the employer advisory board, strategically enhances job and experiential learning opportunities, and recruitment and hiring activities for students and recent alums.
  • Monitors workforce trends and manages a dynamic, student-centered career readiness program.
  • Oversees first-destination data gathering, analysis, and reporting and serves as Administrator in Charge in the director's absence and has budget oversight for employer relations-related activities.
  • As a leader, demonstrates a commitment to student success that is mission aligned with the university's vision, values and priorities. Establishes an ethical and collegial work environment, promoting a collaborative, accountable and inclusive team. Encourages a courageous and resilient solution-oriented environment by participating in new opportunities to further the mission of the university. Participates in developing initiatives that further support the campus mission with a service-oriented and catalytic mind set. Strengthens employees by being communicative and a talent builder that develops team attributes, furthering departmental goals.

Qualifications
  • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a job-related field. Master's degree in Career, College Counseling, College Student Personnel Services, Human Resources, or related degree, preferred.
  • Equivalent to five years of progressively responsible professional/administrative experience; with two of the five years in a managerial role preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage, plan, develop, and implement a structured, comprehensive, and dynamic Career Readiness Program.
  • Ability to maintain relationships with local, state, regional, national, and international employers to create pathways for CSUN students to secure internships and employment.
  • Ability to contribute to departmental strategic plans, operational goals, and student learning outcomes, assessment process, and annual reports.
  • Lead diverse teams to support the operational mission and vision of employers by fostering an ethical, inclusive and collegial work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to support ongoing improvement through courageous, resilient, and catalytic leadership.
  • Lead varying initiatives through a collaborative, service-oriented and communicative approach.
  • Demonstrated commitment to employee development, recognition, and accountability to further operational goals.



Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
  • Salary is commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience. The University offers excellent fringe benefits.
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $90,000 - $96,500 per year, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
  • The position is currently hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
