Job Description:


GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Nursing Retention Coach position is supported by a grant awarded to the College by the New England Nursing-Clinical Faculty and Preceptor Academy. The grant is designed to provide support to all students and clinical faculty. The goal is for students to graduate from the Nursing Program at Cape Cod Community College (CCCC), achieve licensure as an RN, and be prepared to continue their studies in nursing.

The Retention Coach will provide academic and career coaching, college transition services, and referrals to each student pursuing pre-nursing and presently enrolled in nursing at CCCC. The individual in this role will ensure cross-communication between students and partnerships/internships, recruit students from high schools, colleges, and the workforce, and maintain availability for student advising and counseling. The Retention Coach will work with the CCCC Nursing Program Resource Team to ensure students have appropriate advising, tutoring, supplemental instruction, and mentoring opportunities available, and follow-up to ensure they take advantage of these opportunities. The Nursing Retention Coach will be responsible for designing and implementing an approach that allows for ongoing contact with students to help them access needed academic, financial, and social supports.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
  1. Maintain office hours for individual student check-ins and regular meetings with groups and cohorts of students.
  2. Assist the Retention Specialist with students' academic and personal needs and barriers to determine the appropriate support services.
  3. Develop resources for students including tutoring and other services that increase their success in the Nursing Program.
  4. Refer students to services and resources as appropriate.
  5. Develop and manage electronic student resource communications.
  6. Basic data skills/digital proficiency.
  7. Perform tasks associated with tracking student data and reporting of participation and progress of each student receiving services.
  8. Track and respond to the nursing program's student support service survey, providing faculty with input regarding student learning needs and support.
  9. Provide follow-up to ensure students access available services.
  10. Participate in Resource Team meetings and other nursing program meetings as needed.

Requirements:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelor's degree.
  2. Significant experience in vocational or academic counseling, advising, career development, transitions and recruiting.
  3. Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills including the ability to work effectively with a diverse population and create a friendly and supportive environment.
  4. Ability to assist students with problem-solving and being proactive in reaching educational goals.
  5. Strong organizational skills as well as the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and adhere to deadlines.
  6. Accuracy and attention to detail.
  7. Available to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends and evenings.
  8. Capable of working as a team member and in assuming leadership of a team.
  9. Ability to adhere to the College's strict confidentiality guidelines and FERPA regulations.
  10. Valid Massachusetts Driver's license, or eligible for such, and ability to travel throughout the Massachusetts.
  11. Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Advanced education in counseling, psychology, education, or a closely related field.

Additional Information:


COMPENSATION: Minimum hourly rate of $32 for up to 18 hours per week. Part-time, non-benefited, grant-funded MCCC Unit position.
