EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING STRATEGIST

Position Summary:
During the inaugural year of the Michigan Consortium for Addressing Rural Education Expansion and Retention (MiCAREER) Resource Hub, the Experiential Learning Strategist will coordinate the development of policies and processes for utilizing prior learning assessments towards degree completion and/or credentialing. This includes facilitating a group of Education Preparation Institution (EPI ) representatives in designing experiential learning assessments and accompanying procedures that align with programs within the MiCAREER consortium and meet Michigan Department of Education (MDE ) certification standards. In subsequent years, the Experiential Learning Strategist will coordinate implementation, modify assessments as needed, assist participants in the experiential learning credentialing process, collect and evaluate data related to participant use, and communicate with the evaluation team for continuous improvement and quality assurance. The Experiential Learning Strategist would work with the Director of Partnerships and Programming as well as program faculty to align assessments with participant support.
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in K-12 education, higher education, education/public policy, curriculum and instruction, or a related field.
Three years of experience with assessment design and instrumentation in a teacher education program or higher education.
Experience in program evaluation, education research, and/or data analysis in higher education or a related setting.
Familiarity with Experiential Learning and/or Prior Learning.
Demonstrated ability to plan, establish priorities, and handle multiple tasks and projects involving large numbers of participants.
Excellent organizational, written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of Michigan Department of Education certification standards.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive attitude.

Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Earned doctorate degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.); ABD status would also be considered.
Five years of experience with assessment design and instrumentation in a teacher education program of higher education.
Knowledge of the Michigan Core Teaching Practices.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Leads all administrative tasks for the Hub related to the experiential learning assessment system.
Monitors information sharing and provides ongoing website direction for all HUB consortium participants related to experiential learning.
Coordinates the development of experiential learning processes and procedures with educator preparation institution (EPI ) representatives and the program's Director of Partnerships and Programming.
Manages the database of experiential learning outcomes and presents to the Executive Team at the discretion of the Director of Partnerships and Programming.
Oversees all internal and external processes for experiential learning applicants including but not limited to, the intake of applicant materials, coordinating with Hub staff to maintain confidentiality and security, ensuring all materials are processed by the appropriate staff, and that final decisions are documented and shared with the applicants per Hub protocols.
Collaborates with support staff across partner EPIs to ensure all Hub materials related to experiential learning are frequently updated and accessible to external constituents.
Works with the Director of Partnerships and Programming to establish and monitor partnership agreements.
Maintains detailed records of students, associated assessment costs, and additional expenses to process reimbursements of funds to Hub EPIs.
