SEWER AND WATER OPERATOR

The City of Barron, Wisconsin is now accepting applications for a full-time Sewer and Water Operator to join our team.  

Essential Job Functions

Under general supervision, perform semi-skilled to skilled technical work as follows:

• Ensure that proper safety standards and precautions are followed.
• Operate and maintain light and medium duty equipment and trucks appropriate to the area of assignment. 
• Install, maintain, repair and replace sewer or water mains and services.
• Remove, install, and repair old and new meter systems.
• Flush and maintain manholes and sanitary sewer lines.
• Participate in the operation of wastewater treatment facilities and lift stations.
• Assist to ensure the operation of the facility within design specifications and compliance with regulations by analyzing and evaluating data.
• Make periodic rounds of treatment plant, pump stations, municipal wells, etc. 
• Take water samples and test results, taking appropriate action as needed.
• Operate equipment to move materials, supplies, equipment, etc. as required.
• Assist with maintenance of snow, ice, lawn care for sewer and water properties.
• Perform proper cleanup and janitorial duties throughout the plant. 
• Use of water treatment chemicals as needed.
• May be assigned to other projects and duties as needed.

DNR Certification, or ability to obtain within one year of hire date is required. Valid Commercial driver’s license, or ability to obtain is required.
