Job Description Summary:
Are you ready to contribute to the smooth operation and maintenance of one of Columbia's most vital assets? Join us at the Columbia Regional Airport as a Maintenance Technician I! In this role, you'll play a crucial part in ensuring the upkeep of airport facilities, grounds, and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks and minor repairs on airport facilities, including walls, windows, doors, and floors.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized by picking up trash, cleaning shelters, restrooms, elevators, and stairs.
  • Purchase, pick up, and deliver supplies, parts, and materials to support maintenance activities.
  • Utilize a variety of standard power tools and equipment for building and grounds maintenance and repair.
  • Assist in preventative maintenance and minor repairs to appliances, vehicles, and electrical fixtures.
  • Conduct general maintenance tasks such as painting, concrete repair, sign maintenance, mowing, and snow/ice removal.
  • Troubleshoot and perform basic emergency actions related to Parking Access and Revenue Control System (PARCS) equipment and software (for positions assigned to Parking Utility).

Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.

Your efforts will contribute directly to the safety, functionality, and appearance of the airport, enhancing the experience for passengers and visitors.

Fiscal Responsibility:
Limited fiscal responsibility may include assisting in budget monitoring and resource management for maintenance activities.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in general building and grounds maintenance and repair work.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Positions assigned to the airport must successfully complete an annual TSA background check.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with semi-skilled building and grounds maintenance and repair practices.
  • Basic knowledge of standard hand and power tools used in maintenance activities.
  • Understanding of safety standards and precautions related to tool use and physical labor.
  • Ability to follow instructions, operate motor vehicles, and communicate effectively with the public.
  • Proficiency in operating mechanical equipment for tasks like snow removal (if assigned to such duties).

Work Environment:
Be prepared for a variety of work environments, including confined spaces, outdoor weather conditions, and exposure to potentially hazardous substances.

Hours/Days:
Enjoy a flexible schedule with shifts scheduled Thursday through Sunday, working 10-hour days.

Starting Salary:
Begin your journey with us with a competitive starting salary of $18.23 per hour.
