Equipment/Automotive Maintenance Specialist I

The Equipment/Automotive Maintenance Specialist I position is a full-time role with benefits and a preferred hiring range of $21.48 - $23.62 per hour (equivalent to $44,678 - $49,129 annually); however, an exact salary will be dependent upon the selected candidate's qualifications/experience and in compliance with City policy.
As an Equipment/Automotive Maintenance Specialist I in the Department of Public Transportation, you'll perform a variety of difficult technical work on a variety of automotive, medium, and heavy equipment in the City's Central Garage, which services all City of Harrisonburg departments. In this vital role, you'll have an opportunity to perform preventative maintenance, make service calls and repair vehicles/equipment in the field, and perform other related duties to ensure the City has operationally-sound vehicles and equipment to carry out high-quality City services. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and moderate (1-3 years) experience in vehicle repair/maintenance setting. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be used to meet this requirement. Valid driver's license at time of hire. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required within six (6) months of hire date. Paid, on-the-job training will be provided. The selected candidate for this position will be subject to the following screenings and must receive satisfactory results: Virginia Department of Education physical examination; Federal Transit Administration (FTA) physical examination; FTA pre-employment drug screening; DMV record review; Criminal background check. This position is subject to FTA alcohol and controlled substances testing regulations.
