POSITION IN BRIEF

Responsible for enforcement of metered parking and regulations in parking lots within the City of Hudson; checks, maintains and replaces parking meters.

Employees in this class are responsible for a variety of duties associated with the monitoring of metered parking areas and municipal parking lots.  Assigned duties are performed in accordance with parking regulations and the Municipal Code.  Incumbent has daily personal contact with the general public.  Work is performed under the supervision of the Parking Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND JOB RELATED EXPERIENCE NEEDED

Ability to effectively communicate with the public, issue notice of violations legibly.  Operate computer and download information from hand-held meter-reading equipment.

High school diploma or equivalent degree. Computer skills and knowledge of Word software.  Possess a valid driver's license, clear police record.

BASIC TASKS ROUTINELY PERFORMED

-Monitors meters and lots for expired time.

-Issues notice of violations, past-due notices, and registration suspension forms.

-Maintains meters in good working order.

-Operates and maintains equipment necessary for performance of duties.

-Other duties as assigned.

-Routinely adheres to and maintains a positive attitude towards city and department goals.

-Operation of kiosk management, mobile and LPR software.

The employee must lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH TASKS ARE PERFORMED

Work is performed primarily in an office and outdoor settings, in all weather conditions including temperature extremes, during day shifts.

The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electric shock and vibration.
