Full-time position available with the Health Department, Community & Family Health Education Division,
2400 Troost.
Normal Work Days/Hours: May be nontraditional, including weekends and evenings.
As a condition of employment with the City of KCMO Health Department, all new employees will be required to submit or provide documentation of receiving an influenza (Flu) Vaccination. Manage, plan, organize and execute all violence prevention /health education work plan activities for youth ages 10-19 under the MCH Block Grant. Collaborates with schools, churches and youth serving organizations to raise awareness of emerging public health issues around violence prevention. Trains community partners on the use of evidence-based resources, teach children, youth and adult’s skills that enhance individual capability for health and safety, connect parents/families to educational resources that will stabilize the family and support positive youth development, conduct outreach activities to reach families and develop partnerships with youth serving organizations to build relationships for broader goals and greater impact. Hours may be nontraditional, including weekends and evening.
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor’s degree and 4 (OR an accredited Master’s degree and 2) years of responsible health related experience in the fields of public health with the federal, state or local government or in the private health sector, including 1 year at the level of Public Health Specialist II; OR a doctorate in Veterinary Science, Health Education or Public Health or Doctor of Medicine (MD); OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience, including 2 years of experience at the level of Public Health Specialist II. Must possess a valid State –issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. Must pass a preemployment drug screen and post offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.
Salary Range: $4,619-$6,928/month.
