Job Purpose

Senior Business Analyst/Consultant performs independent, highly complex business systems process analysis and design, finds opportunities for growth, analyzes needs, and recommends solutions which improve efficiency, accuracy, and provides cost savings.

Serves as the primary liaison and advocate between business stakeholders and relevant Information Technology (IT) teams at the College of Charleston.

Minimum Requirements

A bachelor's degree in computer science or other applicable discipline and experience in computer system development and modification. Relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Experience in higher education is preferred. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experienced knowledge of capabilities, techniques, and intricacies of information systems. Ability to understand and carry out complex technical instructions and requests. Moderately complex to complex ability to analyze and reduce to logical order complex technical data. Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner. Ability to work effectively with users, vendors, and other IT personnel. Ability to identify and resolve problems. Ability to provide status reports and other technical reports in a clear and concise manner. Ability to lead technical projects. Extensive knowledge of technical documentation. May need project management skills.

Extensive working knowledge of Business Analysis Body of Knowledge ( BABOK) principles. Preference will be given to candidates who have been issued professional certificates from the Project Management Institute ( PMI), International Institute of Business Analysis ( IIBA), or other like professional organizations.

An extensive knowledge of higher education business processes and applications is a plus.

PROJECTS: Performs business analysis on a variety of projects involving information technology. On project(s), works with both IT and business unit stakeholders to ensure existing systems/processes are understood and analyzed for potential innovations and efficiencies. Ensures effective and creative solution implementation with project team.

Completes comprehensive documentation (i.e., needs analysis, business case, feasibility analysis, etc.) of requirements and functional design towards the acquisition, procurement, or development of new tools/solutions.

Provides estimates on the amount of analysis and development effort needed based on requirements.

Assists in reporting to management on status of projects.

BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT: Develop a deep knowledge of the business partner's business unit and build positive relationships, both horizontally and vertically.

Educate business partners about processes, roles, and capabilities.

Partner with business leadership to plan new joint initiatives, evaluate proposals, and determine how they fit into business capability roadmaps and priorities.

Focus on business value rather than solutions to develop ideas, including digital awareness, risk assessments, business continuity, and business capability requirements.
