The Santa Clarita Community College District/College of the Canyons is seeking a full-time Workers’ Compensation Coordinator in the Human Resources Department.

 

Initial Salary placement will be on Range 40 of Classified Represented Salary Schedule B. 

** Initial salary step placement for new employees is customarily at step 1, 2, or 3

($6,697.00/ $7,098.00/ $7,505.00 per month) of this 20-step salary range.

 

Probationary period for new Classified employees is six months. Work year is 12 calendar months. The normal workweek for this position is 40 hours. Paid holiday, discretionary, and sick time are provided. Ten vacation days accrue during the first year of employment. A regular work schedule will be assigned, with the ability to occasionally work a flexible schedule as needed with supervisor approval.

"BIG PICTURE" RESPONSIBILITY:

 

Reporting to and under the supervision of the Director, Recruitment and Employee Services, the Coordinator coordinates the day-to-day administration of the District's Workers’ Compensation and Workplace Safety Programs. Serves as liaison between the District and the employee, supervisor, Workers’ Compensation insurance carrier, and other relevant outside agencies regarding work-related injuries and workplace safety. Responsible for ensuring compliance with state regulations, facilitating timely claims processing, and supporting employees throughout the workers' compensation process. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Further Details:

The College is expecting to conduct initial interviews between the weeks of July 8, 2024, and July 15, 2024, and conduct final interviews between the weeks of July 15, 2024, and July 22, 2024. This is an estimated timeline and is subject to change.

 

Interviews may be conducted in-person or remotely via Zoom.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

Experience:

Three (3) full-time equivalent years of experience in Human Resources, including workers compensations responsibilities which would demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties that are essential to this position.

 

Education:

Successful completion of an Associate’s Degree from an accredited institution. Two years of direct experience in addition to that identified above may be substituted for each year (30 units) of college required.
