The purpose of this class is to assist in providing leadership in the planning, supervision, and oversight of the Testing and Assessment Center department and programs.

Master's degree with an emphasis in higher education, student affairs, MBA or related area is required. Minimum of three (3) years supervising full-time staff in admissions, academic support, testing services or student services department, preferably in a community college setting is required. Five (5) years of full-time, professional work experience working in admissions or student services is required, preferably in a community college setting.

Experienced in placement testing and standardized exam vendor proctoring services (i.e. Pearson Vue, CollegeBoard, etc.) is preferred. Experience with Student Information Systems or College Learning management Systems (i.e., Ellucian Banner, Brightspace) required. Flexibility to work some evening and weekend hours is a requirement of this position.

  3. Conduct regular meetings with staff to review policies and establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining goals and objectives.
  4. Collaborate with the director in the development of new programs, initiatives and strategies that are consistent with the College's mission.
  5. Participate in and lead a variety of meetings, committees, or other related groups to communicate information regarding services, programs, areas of opportunity, and/or other pertinent information as appropriate.
  6. Serve as a member of national and state testing and assessment services related organizations and maintain applicable certifications.
  7. Serve as Administrator on Duty responsibilities on an as needed basis.

1.Supervision and Team Development:
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment within the Testing Center, promoting teamwork, idea sharing, and conflict resolution among staff members.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to enhance the skills and capabilities of the testing center team.
  • Empower team members by delegating tasks effectively and encouraging individual growth.
2. Innovative Operational Practices:
  • Identify and implement innovative approaches, policies, and procedures that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of testing center operations.
  • Document new policies, procedures, and data to ensure clarity, consistency, and accountability in the delivery of testing services.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of new practices, making adjustments as needed for continuous improvement.
3. Staff Meetings and Communication:
  • Conduct regular meetings with testing center staff to discuss policies, responsibilities, and strategies for achieving goals and objectives.
  • Provide a platform for open communication, allowing staff to share insights, challenges, and successes in serving students effectively.
4. Program Development and Collaboration
  • Collaborate closely with the Testing Center Director to conceptualize, develop, and implement new programs, initiatives, and strategies aligned with the college's mission and goals.
  • Actively contribute to the design of student support programs that cater to diverse populations, including academically disadvantaged students, those with disabilities, veterans, and other special groups.
5. Participation in College Initiatives:
  • Lead and participate in various meetings, committees, and groups to communicate valuable information about the testing center's services, opportunities for improvement, and relevant updates.
  • Represent the testing center's perspective and contribute to discussions related to student success, engagement, and assessment strategies.
6. National and State Engagement:
  • Serve as a proactive member of national and state-level testing and assessment organizations to stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and innovative approaches.
  • Maintain relevant certifications in the field, demonstrating commitment to professional development and expertise.
  1. Administrator on Duty Responsibilities:
  • Fulfill Administrator on Duty responsibilities as required, ensuring that the testing center operates smoothly even during unforeseen situations.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and availability to address urgent matters and provide guidance to staff when necessary.
  1. Resource Management:
  • Effectively utilize available resources, including personnel, time, and technology, to accomplish testing center goals and initiatives.
  • Develop clear evaluation criteria to monitor the progress of departmental goals and accomplishments.
  1. Engagement with Student Population:
  • Collaborate with faculty, students, and peers to ensure the design and implementation of testing products for placement, instruction, certification, and academic support meet the needs of the college's diverse student population.
  • Apply strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with students from various linguistic, ethnic, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
