The purpose of this class is to assist Veterans and Military connected students with academic requirements and course selection. Disseminating information on CCBC policies and procedures to faculty, parents, and students.

Compensation within the posted range is determined by a candidate's education level and/or years of experience in the field. Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale.

Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree and honorably discharged Veteran preferred. Five years' higher education experience required, preferably in a community college setting. Prior experience assisting new students transition into a college setting required, academic advising experience preferred.
  1. Serve as primary point of contact for transition and support services for prospective and current military affiliated students.
  2. Monitor and document military and veteran students' academic progress toward academic success, transfer and graduation.
  3. Advise veteran/military-connected students about academic requirements and selection of courses.
  4. Disseminate information on CCBC policies and procedures to faculty, parents, students, etc.; specifically maintain a working knowledge of FERPA, COMAR and MHEC regulations.
  5. Evaluate and determine transfer credits; research course descriptions to determine transferability.
  6. Compare transcripts with entrance and graduation requirements, and advise students on appropriate actions.
  7. Remain current on of veterans' affairs, DoD TA program, VA GI Bill, and MyCAA program.
  8. Assist in the preparation of special reports, as required.
  9. Maintain student records and files.
  10. Conduct workshops and presentations, as required.
  11. Monitor compliance with College and Veterans policies and procedures.

  1. Assist new and returning veteran/military connected students in planning and implementing their educational goals by providing comprehensive academic and transfer advisement services.
  2. Support the successful transition of veteran/military connected students into the college environment.
  3. Work with other staff members in the development, implementation and evaluation of new veteran/military connected initiatives.
  4. Assist veteran/military connected students on academic probation in developing strategies for success.
  5. Serve on campus and college-wide committees.
  6. Conduct college-wide outreach to promote veteran/military connected student engagement and retention.
