The purpose of this class is to provide administrative, instructional management and leadership for the Polysomnographic Technician program in a manner consistent with established College policies and procedures. The Program Director is responsible for all aspects of the program, including the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development and general effectiveness of the program. This includes maintaining proper accreditations for the program, supervising full- and part-time faculty and staff, and providing a liaison to local healthcare affiliates.Bachelor's degree in a technical, medical, or related field required, Current certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Sleep Technologist. Must have a minimum of five (5) years of practice experience. Two years college/professional level teaching or adult education experience required. Experience in curriculum design, program administration & planning, and instructional methodology preferred.

Under the supervision of the Director, Health and Human Services, the Sleep Technology Program Director is responsible for all aspects of the program, including the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of the program. This position will supervise fulltime and part-time faculty and staff, students, and provide liaison to health care affiliates and represent the college on a local, state, national and international levels.

  1. Seek continuous improvement in teaching (classroom and on-line) methodology and student centered learning.
  2. Maintain certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Sleep Technologist.
  3. Coordinate the scheduling of faculty, courses, and facilities within program.
  4. Work collaboratively to achieve departmental, divisional and/or institutional initiatives.
  5. Participate with the hiring and evaluation of assigned staff.
  6. Maintain scheduled availability to students.
  7. Maintain laboratories, supplies and/or equipment.
  8. Remain knowledgeable about the College, its structure, culture, policies, practices and the surgical technology program.
  9. Assist in student recruitment and selection.
  10. Serve as an advocate for the College and its students, as required.
  11. Attend regular meetings with the continuing education staff, sleep technology advisory group, and other meetings as requested.

  1. Prepare and teach assigned courses, utilizing college Learning Management System (LMS), strategies and activities to promote student engagement and enhanced student learning.
  2. Follow established rules and guidelines of the accrediting body.
  3. Develop, coordinate, and monitor all course paperwork. Evaluate student achievement on a regular basis using valid assessment techniques. Coordinate Certification Exam for students.
  4. Assist in directing the assigned administrative support personnel.
  5. Perform administrative duties that may include teacher mentoring or other similar duties.
  6. Serve as point of contact for internal and external organizations, including marketing programs in healthcare.
  7. Organize, administer, and maintain the sleep technology program including developing methods of program evaluation, outcomes assessments and corresponding revisions to meet CAAHEP programmatic accreditation standards, goals, and mission.
  8. Coordinate development and revision of the sleep technology course curriculum including descriptions, syllabi, outlines and lesson plans.
  9. Provide leadership and support in the professional development of program faculty. Coordinate evaluation of teaching.
  10. Conduct formal and informal counseling of students and adjunct faculty.
  11. Develop and maintain clinical affiliation sites, coordinate student clinical placement and document periodic clinical site visits to evaluate effectiveness and compliance with program policies.
  12. Participate in the recruitment and selection of sleep technology students. Attend such activities as school and community career fairs and information sessions.
  13. Establish and coordinate a Program Advisory Committee to monitor and support the activities of the sleep technology program.
  14. Participate in program revenue and expense budget development.
