Managing Attorney (Real Estate Law Practice)

Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced attorney specializing in real estate law to join our team as a Managing Attorney. This role is pivotal in overseeing the daily operations of our real estate law practice while also preparing for eventual succession to take over the firm. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional legal acumen, leadership qualities, and a strategic mindset to drive the continued success and growth of the firm. This person will also have an entrepreneurial mindset, seeking to improve and grow the firm, with the intention of taking it over one day. Commitment to service to clients, staff and community is imperative to this role. Knowledge of the intersection of estate/succession planning, probate, and business matters extremely helpful.

Responsibilities:

1. Legal Oversight:

- Provide expert legal counsel and guidance to clients on a wide range of real estate matters.

- Review and draft legal documents.

- Conduct legal research to stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and precedents affecting real estate law.

- Working knowledge of all parts of a real estate transaction and the ability to speak and advise on all relevant matters related to the transaction.

2. Team Leadership:

- Supervise and mentor a team of paralegals and other staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

- Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring timely completion of assignments and adherence to quality standards.

- Provide training and professional development opportunities to team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.

3. Client Management:

- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and objectives to deliver tailored legal solutions.

- Act as the primary point of contact for client inquiries, providing prompt and effective communication and resolving any issues that may arise.

- Identify opportunities to expand client base and enhance client satisfaction through exemplary service delivery.

4. Firm Management:

- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the real estate law practice, including budgeting, resource allocation, and performance monitoring.

- Develop and implement strategic plans to drive business growth and profitability, aligning with the firm's long-term goals and objectives.

- Collaborate with senior leadership to make informed decisions regarding firm policies, procedures, and initiatives.

5. Succession Planning:

- Work closely with the current firm leadership to understand the vision and values of the organization and prepare for eventual succession.

- Participate in strategic discussions and initiatives aimed at grooming the candidate for eventual leadership of the firm.

- Demonstrate leadership potential and readiness to assume greater responsibilities in leading the firm towards continued success.

Qualifications:

- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the North Carolina State Bar.

- Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing real estate law, with a proven track record of success in handling complex transactions and legal matters.

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate team members towards achieving common goals.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to build rapport with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
