Summary

The Page News and Courier and The Warren Sentinel are looking for a community-focused and passionate managing editor to guide these two weekly newspapers. This position will split equal time between the Page News and Courier and The Warren Sentinel. This is an in-person position with occasional required in-person meetings in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The Managing editor will be able to have active access and dialogue with a mentor, who works in Harrisonburg. The managing editor is responsible for managing four reporters, two reporters per paper. The editor will also be in charge of curating weekly content budgets, being the face of the newspapers within the community and writing community-minded editorials. The managing editor will assign reporters stories, have daily check-ins with reporters and edit reporters’ stories. Responsibilities Curate weekly budgets for the PNC and TWS Work with reporters on story ideas and edit stories Work with designers to proof pages before print deadlines Split time between the Page News and Courier and The Warren Sentinel

Qualifications // Skills

Passion for telling the community’s stories and keeping people informed Experience writing Can follow Associated Press Stylebook Must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

-Eight-hour shift
