Position Purpose
The Research Informatics Group in Research Computing at Dartmouth College is seeking an exceptional full-time Data Science Research Intern for this coming summer who is passionate about learning and eager to gain diverse research experience. As a Data Science Research Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, review small grants for data science support, and gain ownership of one project. You will also assist on other projects with the Research Informatics Group, participate in workshops and outreach, answer relevant support tickets, and work with cutting-edge technologies to solve complex real-world problems.

Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or having recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, with experience in data manipulation, visualization, and analysis libraries.
- Solid understanding of statistical methods, including regression, hypothesis testing, and exploratory data analysis.
- Experience or strong interest in research, particularly data-driven projects.
- Experience with Large Language Models, prompt engineering and retrieval augmented generation.
- Effective communication skills, capable of presenting complex data to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work well in a team and contribute to collaborative research efforts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a creative approach to complex problems.
- Passionate about learning and staying updated on data science and research methodologies.
- Willingness to engage in workshops, outreach, and support tasks within the data science community.
