Position Purpose

The General Manager of Theater is responsible for the administration, coordination, communication, and planning involved in producing the department's annual slate of shows, including MainStage and all levels of student productions and non-academic events. While the faculty are collectively responsible for vision-setting, choosing shows, defining the pedagogical principles, and vetting potential guest artists, the General Manager handles the day-to-day decisions, communications, budgeting, and trouble-shooting required to coordinate all the components of a successful production program. The General Manager position is the node linking three groups who each contribute in different ways to the production program: the faculty; the Production Manager and production staff; administrative staff (Department Chair, Administrator, Academic Coordinator).
