JOB DESCRIPTION

The Marketing Manager at the Jay Hurt Hub for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Davidson College will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing a comprehensive marketing strategy and associated multi-channel marketing campaign plans for all of the core offerings at the Hurt Hub. This person will report to the Director of the Hurt Hub and will play a key role on the leadership team. They will be focused on articulating our vision, values and mission through exceptional storytelling to drive engagement with Davidson students, faculty, staff, alumni, Hurt Hub coworkers and our community. Similarly, success in this role will also be measured by leads and revenue generated from coworking, events, programming, and consulting, where appropriate.

We run the Hurt Hub@Davidson just like a startup and encourage applications from those outside the world of higher education and non-profit organizations. Ideal candidates will also have at least 5 years of experience in marketing for a multi-product or service organization, including experience with and/or leading market research, go-to-market strategy, multi-channel campaign management and analytics, copywriting and visual asset development.

Responsibilities include:
  • Audience research and persona development, market definition and segmentation, and competitor analysis with annual updates
  • Overall brand positioning and messaging, and messaging by target audience and product/service offering
  • Annual marketing strategy and quarterly multi-channel plan development in collaboration with the Hurt Hub Leadership team
  • Lead generation and customer lifecycle management/marketing in partnership with the Hurt Hub Sales & Sponsorship and Community Experience Managers
  • Budget development and oversight in concert with the Director and Operations Manager
  • Management of our external web development agency and other student interns, as needed
  • Development and delivery of our Annual Report and other reporting as requested by the Director or other key stakeholders
  • Copywriting and visual asset development across all marketing channels including: website, social media, SEO & paid search, print assets, digital signage, bi-weekly newsletters, Davidson College Communications, external advertising platforms, etc.
  • Multi-channel campaign measurement and analytics, including both quantitative and qualitative analyses
  • Solid knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Wordpress, etc.)
  • Proficient with marketing automation and CRM software platforms, such as Hubspot
Required qualifications and experience:
  • At least 5 years of experience marketing multiple products/services across a portfolio for several audiences
  • Bachelor's degree
Ideal qualifications and experience:
  • Deep passion for community building, entrepreneurship and innovation
  • Proven success record in multi-channel campaign management
  • Data-driven and entrepreneurial-minded; high willingness to learn and curiosity about new tools, channels, technologies and tactics
  • Creativity and out-of-the-box thinking
  • Some experience managing others, including interns and student employees
  • Team player and excellent collaborator; growth mindset with a willingness and desire to receive and act on feedback
  • Strong communicator across all levels of stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Advanced degree in marketing a plus, but not required
  • Proficient with HTML, web and/or graphic design
  • Hubspot certified; experience with Canva
