Position Summary

The Assistant Director of the Moseley Center assists with the management of the facility and leads a team of student staff members that ensures the student-centered facility is a vibrant, engaging space on campus. This position works with organization leaders on their event planning and registration process, and partners with the Event Space Management and Student Involvement offices on the approval process. As the hub of campus, the Moseley Front Desk provides information and services to enhance the student experience. Supervision and oversight of the desk are provided by this position.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in any relevant field of study with the following experience:
  • Completed bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of post-bachelor's experience required.
  • Completed master's degree in higher education, student personnel, or related field and 1-2 years of experience (including graduate assistantships/apprenticeships) in student unions/activities or a related functional area in higher education strongly preferred.

    Preferred Education and Experience

    Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Counseling, or related discipline.

    Job Duties
    • Student Event Support
      • Develop training and provide guidance and mentorship to support student organization leaders
      • Manage the bridge process between PhoenixCONNECT (the student event registration system) and 25Live platforms
      • Partner with Student Involvement and serve as the primary point of contact for organization leaders using PhoenixCONNECT to register events and reserve campus facilities.
      • Partner with the Events Space Management office to coordinate student event facilities requests Work collaboratively with student organizations to develop the programming calendar and ensure Moseley is a vibrant student center
      • Partner with Student Involvement, the Center for Leadership, and the Student Government Association to provide student organization leader training throughout the year
      • Administer and update policies as needed with resource group stakeholders for events/meetings.
      • Partner with Student Involvement on the management of PhoenixCONNECT and the event registration form (media, facilities management, security and catering)
    • Supervision
      • In partnership with the director, select, train, supervise, and evaluate all student managers and student staff assistants
      • Coordinate student training and development activities (including individual meetings with student staff, weekly manager meetings, and monthly all-staff meetings)
      • Manage student staff schedules/needs within the allocated student labor budget
      • Develop training and provide guidance and mentorship to support student staff
      • Ensure student employment is a high-impact experience that prompts students to reflect and connect learning between the classroom and employment.
    • Additional Responsibilities
      • Partner with Event Space Management, Residence Life, and Facilities Management to support summer programs and conferences on campus
      • Support departmental strategic planning, goal setting, priority completion, evaluation and assessment, and data-driven decision making
      • Support university events, including, but not limited to: Convocations, Commencement, Family Weekend, and events related to Admissions and/or New Student Orientation Serve as a member of a Student Life Care and Response Team, which includes either serving in a rotational on-call emergency response role or providing initial outreach and follow-up support for student concerns
      • Serve on university, divisional, or departmental committees, task forces, and search committees Other related duties as assigned by the Director of the Moseley Center
