Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Compliance and Title IX Coordinator, the Compliance Specialist: Title IX and Human Resources plays a pivotal role in ensuring the University's compliance with relevant employment laws, Title IX, regulations, and policies, with a specific focus on promoting fostering an inclusive and diverse campus community through training and outreach. The Compliance Specialist: Title IX and Human Resources will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies, programs, and training initiatives to uphold the University's commitment to fairness, equity, and compliance with applicable laws and guidelines. The Specialist will maintain confidential student and employee files in the university's databases and will serve as an intake expert regarding the university's response to various reports of sexual assault, sexual harassment, stalking, and dating and domestic violence. The Specialist will develop and administer all climate surveys in relation to Title IX. The Specialist must be highly organized and efficient with the ability to balance multiple tasks and responsibilities; strong critical thinking skills; the ability to exercise good judgment and high levels of discretion/confidentiality; an intense focus on accuracy; excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

1 Year of Experience in Title IX, Human Resources, or relevant field.

Job Duties
  • Compliance Management: Stay up to date with federal, state, and local employment laws, Title IX, regulations, and policies related to equal opportunity, non-discrimination, affirmative action, and other HR compliance areas. Assist in the management of the reporting systems (Maxient and EthicsPoint). Provide guidance to administrators, faculty, staff, and students of procedures available for filing complaints, grievances, and appeals under federal and state regulations and institutional policies and procedures. Coordinate the receipt and response of university sexual harassment complaints; working with both the Director of Compliance and Title IX Coordinator and the Director of Employee Relations and Culture to ensure accurate and timely completion of state mandated submissions. Provide Case Management support to faculty, staff, and students filing complaints, grievances, and appeals under federal and state regulations and institutional policies and procedures.
  • Training: Serve as lead trainer for university related to Title IX including training for mandatory reporters, students, staff, and faculty. In partnership with Director of Compliance and Title IX Coordinator, develop and implement training for diverse audiences to increase awareness of university policy and procedures, compliance requirements, and ethical standards. Prepare and present professional development and educational opportunities to the campus community regarding HR compliance and Title IX in alignment with industry best practices.
  • Investigative Support Assist in the capacity of an investigator, primarily with complaints under the Title IX and Sexual Misconduct Policy, but also as needed with complaints of discrimination and/or harassment for the university community, including matters that fall under the ADA, Title VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act. Act as a neutral party through all aspects of investigation and ensures a prompt, fair and neutral process for all parties. Compile and analyze Title IX data to identify trends, disparities, and opportunities for improvement in equal opportunity practices. Prepare and submit required compliance reports to relevant departments and senior leaders on campus.
  • Policy Development and Implementation: Participate in the development, review, and updating of Title IX policies and procedures. Communicate policy changes effectively across the organization and ensure understanding and adherence.
