AIS Education Specialist

The Flathead Conservation District seeks two Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Education Specialists to work during periods of high boat activity to gather critical information about boater origin and watercraft use, verify and/or conduct inspections, and provide information and resources to prevent the introduction and spread of aquatic invasive species in Flathead Lake. Salary is $20 per hour and reimbursement for mileage and travel expenses.

Duties:
• Boater Information Gathering and Reporting
• Public Relations and Education
• Watercraft Inspection and AIS Detection
• Communicating with FCD Board and AIS Area Supervisor on all job duties
• Performs other duties as assigned by the AIS Area Supervisor or FCD Board of Supervisors

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Minimum qualifications include familiarity with invasive species and associated threats; Ability to understand and follow established protocols; Experience with basic data collection, entry, and reporting; Excellent time management skills and attention to detail; Must be able to have consistent, professional interactions with the public; Driver’s license and reliable vehicle for transportation
