Job Summary

Manages the Wolfe Center and is responsible for the building's safe and efficient operation/management in the evenings and weekends; (Holidays, as needed). Monitors and assesses hazardous and unsafe conditions. Schedules maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Hires, supervises, and conducts training and evaluations of assigned staff. Conducts custodial and maintenance job and tasks analysis for equity and rotations of assignments and duties. Approves reported or payable time, overtime, and absence requests.
  • Manages daily events and programs and ensures that they are proceeding as scheduled and planned. Resolves clients' issues, last minute requests and changes. Reports to Management and respective event coordinators concerns.
  • Ensures that all setups are executed properly, on time, according to sponsor's request and Fire Marshall regulations.
  • Implements emergency plans by coordinating building evacuations, lock-downs, and fire drills in communication with the University Emergency Team, Public Safety, and Fire Marshall. Assists with the building's hurricane preparedness and coordinates work as directed.
  • Conducts injury and theft reports, and contacts FIU Public Safety to produce police reports, as needed.
  • Conducts daily building inspections to ensure good working conditions and compliance with Fire Marshall codes and ADA regulations. Implements building maintenance projects of painting, furniture repairs, plumbing, light bulb replacements, and other needed repairs. Ensures that repair work by staff and/or contractors is completed in a satisfactory manner.
  • Coordinates and assigns maintenance work to assigned staff and serves as the point of contact for building contractors.
  • Collects data of cleaning/janitorial/maintenance supplies. Conducts cost analysis pertaining to production of events, staffing and overtime.
  • Oversee department inventory. Support campus-wide Lost & Found process.
  • Collaborate with university departments, student organizations, and outside community members to coordinate and schedule events, meetings, large-scale productions, etc., in the facility.
  • Recommends policy changes, participates in strategic planning and recommends measures for increased productivity, cost control systems, revenue generating ideas and customer service.
  • Performs essential duties during any emergencies, such as hurricanes, storms and/or any other University emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during University emergency closings with appropriate notification by department administrator.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate specialization and two (2) years of operational or related experience or equivalent combination of education and operational or related experience.

Departmental Requirements

Must be able to work Tuesday through Saturday.

Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Event Management System (EMS) and Social Tables software.
  • Experience supervising a team.
