Job Summary

Provides leadership to the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education (CASE) Information Technology department. Oversees the management of projects, supervision of departmental staff and recommendations to executive management regarding IT policy and procedures. Oversees technical projects in alignment with organizational goals and directs the effective delivery of networks, development, software, and disaster recovery systems and processes.
  • Formulates and defines system scope and objectives through research and fact finding to develop or modify applications related to complex University academic functions.
  • Analyzes, designs and creates specifications for application functionality and requirements. Reports research findings for support and development of paperless activities.
  • Configures and supports CMS, SharePoint sites and equivalent enterprise systems' security, workflows and user interfaces
  • Provides production support including problem analysis and resolution, faculty support, system scheduling, monitoring, tuning, and end-user support. Conducts in-depth analysis and resolve dependency and integration issues across product areas.
  • Uses object-oriented programming skills and understanding of object- oriented analysis and design to guide developers in creating enterprise applications.
  • Coordinates with vendors when necessary to resolve hardware and software issues.
  • Collaborate with various groups (customers, help desk, technical infrastructure, database administrators, security analysts, and business system users) to identify and resolve application issues. Provide guidance to and share knowledge with junior staff. Provide in-depth knowledge and leadership for assignments.
  • Gathers requirements for users to create specifications. Oversees the development, design, and implementation of new applications within the college.
  • Develops and writes code to support new and existing applications. Develops standards and guidelines.
  • Identifies current and future needs to ensure the applications support the college's mission accommodating for current needs and enrollment growth
  • Designs, organizes, and improves functionality, accessibility, navigation and overall usability of the unit's CMS.
  • Administers and integrates multiple functional area information systems and formulate paperless policies and procedures.
  • Develops and recommends policies relating to assigned areas of responsibility. Coordinates the development, implementation and interpretation of operating procedures.
  • Assists Department Chairs and Directors with technology procurement, implementation and decommissioning while developing policies relative to the college's' goals and initiatives.
  • Assists the Director in recruiting, hiring and training of IT staff.
  • Assists in project planning of pedagogical technology within the college.
  • Coordinates the training of college faculty and staff.
  • Assists in the implementation of university-wide technology initiatives.
  • Advises the Director on hardware/software expenditures for online and hybrid courses.
  • Performs essential duties in emergencies such as hurricanes, storms, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification from a department administrator
  • Evaluates current IT infrastructure and recommends modifications and/or improvements to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Works closely with faculty to assess their technology, pedagogical and administrative needs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline with four (4) years of experience in related field including managerial experience.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with SharePoint development
  • Experience with JavaScript.
