Job Summary

Performs skilled plumbing work; installing, repairing, troubleshooting, inspecting, and doing preventive maintenance on plumbing and sanitary systems and hardware to support the safe functioning and quality at all campuses. Performs work orders and participates in projects as directed. Works in a team-based and customer service oriented environment.
  • Performs general plumbing duties, such as installing, repairing, and maintenance of valves, faucets flush meters, drains and traps in conjunction with closets, lavatories, urinals, kitchens sinks, laboratory equipment, hot water heaters, water coolers, showers, roof drainage systems and control lines for sprinkler/irrigation systems. Participates in reading and interpreting blueprints to repair plumbing system.
  • Maintains piping systems by opening clogged drains, replaces washers and repairs leaky faucets, performs hand digging/trenching for maintenance repairs as needed.
  • Performs scheduled preventive maintenance and directs maintenance repairmen, assigned to assist in procedures related to plumbing installations, water distribution and sewage, including verification of work performed by contractor.
  • Participates in on-call rotation list as it may be required to cover important university events and or emergencies.
  • Operates motor vehicles to transport materials and equipment needed to accomplish the job tasks assigned to this position.
  • Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, storms, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED and one (1) year of related experience.
