Job Summary

Responsible for production and coordination of donor/prospect-related data and portfolio management for purposes of identifying, tracking and moving through cultivation and solicitation phases of the fundraising process. Utilizes knowledge of the organization's constituency to evaluate, organize, and summarize data into comprehensive reports on major and principal gift level campaign prospects. Partners with development staff to provide critical research and strategic analysis to help move prospects through the donor cycle.
  • Analyzes data to identify discrepancies. Conducts quality control practices, regular prospect data-audits and captures metrics to ensure data integrity. May assist in development and implementation of prospect development improvement procedures and protocols for University Advancement.
  • Identifies new major prospects and analyzes biographical and financial data to determine prospects' available resources and potential interest, in relation to the University's overall funding priorities. Identifies, qualifies, assesses, ranks, and prioritizes donor prospects through analysis of potential donors.
  • Manages a research request queue and responds to a variety of requests. Negotiates the profile or report format and time frame for proper deliverable. Collects and analyzes data to ensure that relevant information is available and disseminated to the appropriate party.
  • Researches, collects, and synthesizes large amounts of information based on fundraising need. Identifies, researches and analyzes information to create research profiles on current donors, prospects, alumni, parents and friends of FIU for future major and principal gift cultivation and solicitation.
  • Utilizes various database and online resources in the systematic and consistent approach to gathering accurate and substantial data for the fundraising process. Discusses resources needs with Development Officers and/or Advancement leadership.
  • Monitors fundraising activity regularly for continuity and compliance with Prospect Management Guidelines and processes. Prepares regular reports and memorandum on information regarding fundraising progress/activity and interprets information to advise leaders on fundraising performance.
  • Works collaboratively as a partner and liaison to College/Schools/Units and leaders to increase the pool of potential major gift donors and provide highly customized and strategic information that helps to build relationships and increase giving. May lead departmental colleagues in special projects and initiatives.
  • Protects the privacy and confidentiality of information and files in his/her possession consistent with federal and state laws, and Board of Trustees and University policy. All prospect research collection follows the professional standards outlined by the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement.
  • Serves as primary point of contact and resource for assigned units and portfolios. Advises development officers and other staff on prospect management best practices and proper procedures.
  • Meets and maintains the standards set forth by APRA (Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement) Skill Sets for Relationship Management and Prospect Research. Stays current with industry trends/best practices and explore opportunities for moves management system revision and refinement.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of research or relevant experience; OR six (6) years of research or relevant experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience at presenting ideas and concepts in written or presentation formats, as well as using consultative and facilitative skills to achieve consensus.
  • Experience with prospect research and management, development and/or fundraising. Familiarity with relational databases (Raiser's Edge), word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel) and experience with online databases such as Lexis-Nexis.
  • Proficiency with data management, building complex data queries, segmentation, and visualization. Fluency in CRM systems.
