Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Labor and Employee Relations (with a dotted line to the University Title IX Coordinator), this multifaceted position will be responsible for ensuring adherence to anti-discrimination regulations and promoting a safe and inclusive environment for all employees and students. Additionally, this position will be instrumental in managing employee relations matters and fostering a positive workplace environment.

 

Essential Functions        

  • Ensures compliance with University Title IX policies and procedures under the direction of the University’s Title IX Coordinator and in accordance with federal, state, and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations, and requirements for employees and students.
  • Maintains accurate and confidential records related to Title IX and related investigations and employee relations matters; prepares reports and summaries of investigative findings and trends; ensures compliance with record-keeping requirements and data privacy regulations.
  • Conducts thorough workplace investigations of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation in employment, such as interviewing complainants, respondents, and witnesses and drafting final investigative reports.
  • Advises management on Title IX and employee relations matters.
  • Provides the Fordham Community with sound recommendations regarding labor and employee relations disputes, performance counseling, employee disputes, employee discipline, and separations.
  • Ensures positive labor/management relationships and aids in interpreting the Collective Bargaining Agreements and Administrative Policies.

Additional Functions      

  • Participates in union negotiations meetings by maintaining accurate minutes and assists management with collecting Requests for Information (RIFs).
  • Mediates and reconciles disputes between management and employees regarding their differences during Steps 2 and 3 of the Grievance Procedure pursuant to relevant Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Accurately record minutes during workplace investigation meetings, labor/employee relations conferences, and union contract negotiations.
  • Performs research to support the HR compliance function.
  • Assists in the implementation of any Title IX and employee relations software.
  • Serves as a backup for administering the University’s workplace Accommodations Policy.

 

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience        

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Title IX and Gender Equity.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Human Resource Labor & Employee Relations position.

 

Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills     

  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations and requirements for both students and employees
  • Ability to conduct thorough and structured Title IX and HR workplace investigations independently and using good judgment
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with confidentiality and diplomacy
  • Ability to think creatively and independently while providing sound advice
  • Strong analytical skills and capable of navigating computer software programs and systems
  • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree or JD
  • Senior/Professional in Human Resources (SPHR/PHR) certification
  • Certified Professional (SHRM- SCP/CP) certification
  • An Advanced Certificate in Employee Relations and Investigations
  • Higher education experience

 

Minimum Starting Salary: $100,000

 

Maximum Starting Salary: $125,000

 

Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
