EnMotive, a Gannett Company, is a full-service event services company offering registration, timing, scoring and a wide range of other endurance event solutions. We work with over 1,000 events per year, using a combination of in-house registration, fundraising and volunteer software as well as industry leading external race timing software. We are looking for a passionate, detail-oriented, computer & technology savvy individual with the desire to help grow our eCommerce business and integrate our software solutions to support our mission to becoming “the one stop source” for endurance and ticketing events. Our application consists of features including customer relationship management, event registrations, ticket registrations, shipping, donations, results, photography, on-site check-in, fundraising, membership, and reporting among other uses.
EnMotive is seeking an Onsite Event Technician that will be a part of a growing team working to refine and enhance a suite of consumer-facing applications. Candidates should be comfortable working on projects either as part of a small team, or individually depending on the needs of the project. Candidates should also expect to be working in a fast pace and dynamic environment, able to shift from one project or business priority to the next as projects may be broken down into smaller tasks and release more frequently.
The Onsite Event Technician will serve as the primary liaison for our on-site hardware and software solution in support of outside events as well as fulfilling services on-site at events. This position is responsible for all aspects of help desk support and technical assistance within the Buffalo Grove office as well as assisting others remotely. The position requires one to address a wide variety of user issues, including software problems, hardware failures, and network issues. If it is a software or hardware issue, this may include the need to install or repair the problem software or replace the malfunctioning hardware. If an issue is beyond one’s abilities, the expectation is to contact the appropriate technician or repair service. In addition to office duties the position requires travel to event locations to set-up, operate and maintain LANs and all related computer and technical equipment for the packet pickup process and assist with event day timing operations.
BASE SALARY: $55,000-$65,000/yr
Sample Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Maintain inventory of onsite hardware solution, general IT equipment and timing operations technology
- Ongoing maintenance and repairs of equipment
- Maintain documentation and support of onsite solutions within our knowledgebase
- Track and facilitate logistics infrastructure equipment needs for our customers and internal staff, includes shipment of items
- Support remote events via email or phone
- Support events onsite that require them, including set-up and teardown of on-site equipment
- Support timing events that require them, reporting to the onsite lead-timer
- Ordering of supplies and inventory related to on-site usage
- R&D of next generation on-site hardware, storage, and processes
- Troubleshooting of general questions related to networking, IT, and hardware from customers or internal staff working with equipment
Position Requirements

- Travel is required 15-20% of the time, primarily over weekends
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two (2) years’ experience in IT, Networking, Event Communications or parallel role
- A Master’s degree substitutes for three years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree substitutes for two years, or an Associate’s degree substitutes for one year
Desired Skills:
- Extensive experience with networking configurations
- Extensive experience with maintenance and inventory of equipment
- An affection for documentation and SOP’s
