About the Position:
The Student Services Assistant plays an important role in supporting graduate students and works closely with the Director of Graduate Student Services, Graduate Program Director, and Academic Advisor. Occasional evening activities are required in conjunction with Carter School Admission Office events and orientation schedules. The position is based in Arlington, VA.
This is a part-time position (20 hours per week). Flexible schedule can be arranged - Standard business hours are from 8:30 to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday; may require evening work depending on the student services event schedule.

Responsibilities:
- Graduate Student Success Support:
- Manage graduate student services event calendar;
- Develop and implement communication campaigns including direct emails newsletters, LinkedIn social media;
- Develop and implement student engagement events; and
- Participate in orientation, admissions, and career development events.
- Academic Advising:
- Advise graduate certificate students on course planning each semester;
- Support and process student academic forms (e.g., late registration and late graduation); and
- Identify and assist academically at-risk graduate students.
- Administrative Support:
- Timely response to student queries;
- Prepare reports on student milestones, concentrations, graduation audits, internships etc.; and
- Prepare and maintain confidential student files .
- Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience;
- Effective communication and organizational skills and experience (or ability to engage) with appropriate technologies;
- Ability to build a rapport with students; building trust, flexibility; and an empathetic, non-judgmental, and ethical approach with a diverse group of students; and
- Ability to work within a team and to take proactive action when needed to support students.
- Previous experience in academic advising; and
- Knowledge of PatriotWeb, Banner and/or Navigate.
