Description
The Assistant/ Associate Director position is primarily responsible for planning, directing, and implementing a successful reunion campaign effort to raise unrestricted support and associated class giving from undergraduates within a particular reunion cycle. The person in this position must have superb management skills to strengthen volunteer engagement in fundraising, dollars raised, and alum participation rates throughout the upcoming campaign.

The position also works closely with the Leadership Giving Program, Advancement Services, and the Stewardship Office to leverage affinity partnerships and integrate reunion campaign activity into fundraising efforts. The position collaborates closely with the Office of Alumni/Alumnae Relations on many projects, including identifying new volunteer leadership, increasing the diversity of the volunteer base, especially among younger alums and ensuring the success of reunion-class fundraising efforts.

The successful candidate will be a proven fundraiser with demonstrated ability in fundraising, and volunteer management, marketing, communications, and leadership of volunteer groups focused on fundraising.

Responsibilities:

Program Management and Oversight (40%)
  • Create, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive, multi-year plan for reunion campaigns to increase donors and dollars supporting the Annual Fund and strengthening alum participation.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate specific strategies to increase donor retention, upgrades, and acquisition through reunion campaigns without impacting out-year philanthropy.
  • Set measurable goals and objectives for the Reunion Campaign Program, including reunion giving for recent graduates. This includes evaluation of class giving patterns and establishment of goals using a donor-based feasibility model; input on direct mail and event components of campaign efforts; identification, recruitment, training, and support of campaign volunteers; analysis and evaluation of various campaign efforts; stewardship; and reporting to class campaign leadership. Monitor the progress staff, and volunteers are making toward these goals and ensure they are reached.
  • Provide a rigorous, systematic review and analysis of all reunion campaign activities to find ways to do things more effectively and efficiently. Develop appropriate elements and formats for regular, routine reporting on reunion campaign performance for various internal and external constituencies. Provide effective reporting and analysis to volunteers, supervisor and colleagues for use in management decision-making.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with gift officers to develop goals, objectives, and strategies from their portfolios to maximize the reunion campaign's opportunities. Involve the team in strategic discussions for leveraging the reunion campaign effort to qualify and cultivate higher-level prospects.

Volunteer Management (40%)
  • Each class cycle, evaluate, plan, coordinate, and implement the appropriate volunteer strategy for each reunion class campaign from the 5th to the 50th reunion, and explore the feasibility for any reunion classes from the 55th onward.
  • Serve as the point person for all volunteer-supported reunion campaigns. This includes identification, recruitment, training, and support of campaign volunteers; ensuring the updating of database information to track and report on volunteer efforts and success monthly.
  • Partner with gift officers to set goals, identify volunteers, maintain solicitation status, and adjust strategies for high-level reunion donors.
  • Manage the partnerships between Annual Giving and Alumni Relations as they relate to reunion volunteer engagement and campaign communication with class volunteers.
  • As part of volunteer development, identify opportunities for new generations of volunteers who can take on leadership roles and serve as solicitors for future fundraising efforts based on successful work through reunion campaigns.

Personal Solicitations (20%)
  • Personally, solicit a pool of select annual giving prospects, with an emphasis on young alum, affinity giving and reunion year donors not able to be assigned to volunteer committees or where volunteers did not complete assignments. Set annual activity goals based on reviewing the gift table and the number of individuals who are appropriate for solicitation. Document information in the database to ensure proper recording and tracking of results.
