Academic Advisor (Part - Time)
The College of Business (CoB) Advising and Support Center (ASC) seeks 3 new part-time academic advisors. The successful candidates will be part of a professional and student team of 16 (director, assistant director, 6 advisors, office coordinator, 2 graduate assistants and 5 peer advisors) supporting student success by providing academic advice to 4,100 business majors. The ASC encourages student growth by providing quality advising and programming designed to empower students in making informed decision, leading to the achievement of academic and professional goals.
This is a part-time position working an average of 29 hours per week over the course of an academic year with no benefits.
Use professional judgement to advise students on degree requirements and college progression standards; Communicate regularly with constituents; Assist students in developing academic plans; Coach students on academic success strategies; Monitor students’ progression; Participate in staff development activities; Maintain records and confidentiality; Be accessible, approachable, knowledgeable and kind.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Excellent oral, written and listening communication skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting and ability to work independently
- Ability to learn quickly, adapt to a fast-changing environment and manage multiple priorities at once.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree
- Experience working with college students
