Staff Writer

Las Vegas Weekly, a print and web publication relied upon by locals and visitors, seeks a skilled journalist for a full-time Staff Writer position with an emphasis on news and features.

Qualified candidates will feel equally comfortable breaking news in real time on our website and devising ideas and angles for news pieces that will still feel relevant and vital in our print magazine a week or more later.

We’re as focused on the why as the how, giving our readers the insight they need to stay informed and make informed decisions. The successful candidate must rapidly develop a network of local sources and contacts, gaining quick familiarity with a coverage area of more than 2 million full-time residents and its important happenings, from politics to education to social issues and beyond.

Serious candidates must be able to juggle multiple tasks—reporting for long-form features and quick-turn news pieces, contributing to staff packages and our regular cultural coverage, refreshing and maintaining a strong list of future pitches—while turning in copy that does each topic justice and arrives to editors smoothly constructed.

Previous journalism experience is required.
