Job Description: As the Dealership Controller at Lewis and Clark Ford, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations of our dealership. You will be responsible for preparing financial statements, interpreting financial data, forecasting financial trends, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. Additionally, you will oversee cash management, insurance policies, and coordinate annual audits. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Essential Duties:

  • Prepare complete financial statements monthly according to dealership guidelines and manufacturer formats.
  • Interpret financial statements and daily operating controls to identify trends and inform management.
  • Participate in the preparation of short- and long-term financial forecasts.
  • Provide department managers with detailed financial and management reports.
  • Maintain an effective cash management system and recommend profitable use of excess cash.
  • Direct assessment of depreciation rates for capital assets.
  • Review general ledger and scheduled accounts, investigating unusual entries.
  • Ensure reconciliation of general ledger accounts with outside sources.
  • Stay updated on tax code revisions and advise management accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with government finance regulations.
  • Manage dealership computer systems for optimal utilization.
  • Administer loss review program and maintain loss reserves.
  • Evaluate and manage insurance renewals, including processing claims.
  • Coordinate annual audits and physical inventory.
  • Supervise accounting procedures and preparation of information for CPAs.
  • Continually strive to improve data integrity and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or related field preferred.
  • 2-10 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret financial documents and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and dealership management software.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • CPA certification preferred but not required.
