Skilled Trades Worker - Community Corrections

The purpose of this classification is to perform a variety of semiskilled duties in areas such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, painting, or drywall. Assists certified or licensed workers with their tasks.

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Two (2) years of related experience
• Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience

• Performs a variety of semiskilled duties in areas such as concrete, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, or hanging drywall
• Assists certified or licensed workers with their tasks
• Maintains, services, and conducts repairs on buildings, facilities, equipment and grounds
• Operates trucks and assorted power equipment
• Performs related work as assigned

Valid Driver's License

• Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as assigned and on emergencies.
• All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16.
• For positions located within the Division of Community Corrections, must be a United States citizen; must be at least 21 years of age; subject to extended duty hours and a 24-hour call back; subject to shift work holidays and weekend duty; must complete required training for working in a secure environment; must not have been convicted of a felony or serious misdemeanor; and, subject to an extensive background check and bi-annual tuberculosis testing.
