Sales Representative for the Be Local Coupon Book Local First envisions a thriving, equitable, and sustainable economy that values people, the planet, and prosperity for everyone in southwest Colorado. Our small yet dedicated staff works to achieve this vision through two nonprofit arms. The Local First Independent Business Alliance (501c6) serves as a catalyst advocating for and amplifying the collective voices of 250+ locally owned independent businesses in La Plata County. The Local First Foundation (501c3) pursues grants, gifts, and opportunities to build self-reliance, sense of place, and community well-being. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to take responsibility for the success of the Local First Be Local Coupon Book sales program. The Be Local Coupon Book has been a mainstay of Local First’s efforts to promote localism for more than 10 years. Released each November and good all year long, the book serves as a guide to La Plata County's vibrant locally owned and independent business community. With unique offers not available anywhere else, each book features a new theme and stories to educate locals about new and long standing local businesses and organizations. You may be a good fit for this position if you: believe local independent businesses are the future of local economic development and sustainability; are driven (and like to socialize) to achieve results while staying true to core values of kindness and respect for people; thrive in an environment of positive accountability, honesty and integrity; and have the ability to communicate persuasively with customers and transparently with staff and partners to stay true to organizational and position goals. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES This position is responsible for the Be Local Coupon Book sales program and for representing the Local First brand through all interactions. The sales program encompasses both content sales (e.g., coupons and advertisement) to Local First members and wholesale book sales to bulk purchasers. The sales rep will serve as the key point of contact throughout all phases of the sales process including identifying a customer’s needs, pitching products and memberships, and ensuring a positive experience from start to finish. Interactions will begin both as “cold call prospects” identified from directories or referrals as well as “warm leads” who are already members or have expressed interest in a product. All customer interactions will be documented in the Local First CRM software system. The sales rep will work in close coordination with the Local First team to set, track, and achieve sales goals and ensure that the project meets overall timelines. The content sales process for new customers involves the sale of a Local First membership in coordination with the Local First Membership and Communications Specialist. The sales rep will also identify opportunities for cross-promotion of other Local First programs and events such as participation and advertising related to Durango First Fridays and Noel Night. Being successful in this role requires a mix of building and maintaining customer relationships and consistently seeking new sales opportunities through daily interactions with business owners and others in the community. The successful candidate will be both goal- and people-oriented, have a growth mindset, and exhibit a desire to advance Local First’s vision of a thriving local economy that values people, planet, and prosperity for everyone.
