Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Executive Director, Financial Aid (FA) Student Services is responsible for the direct oversight and supervision of LSC Financial Aid Campus Support Managers, the Contact Center Manager and the Communications Manager. The person in this position provides leadership and guidance to ensure a collaborative, compliant and consistent approach to implementing Financial Aid policies and procedures. The Executive Director, Financial Aid Student Services must remain current on federal, state and institutional regulations relating to student financial aid.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Oversee Campus Financial Aid Offices and the Contact Center
  2. Ensure the efficient operation of all oversight areas
  3. Regularly assess and analyze student needs, interests and events for developing programs, policies, goals and objectives
  4. Make periodic visits to each campus to assess the success of Financial Aid operations
  5. Serve as liaison between the Financial Aid System Office and Financial Aid Campus Offices
  6. Work with campus managers of financial aid to provide guidance in accordance with federal regulations
  7. Remain current on all federal, state and institutional regulations
  8. Partner with other Executive Financial Aid Directors to establish policies that are related to Financial Aid
  9. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state financial aid programs including trends in the field of financial aid
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal skills
  • Advanced skills in the use of technological tools and systems used to support and deliver financial aid
  • Ability to think strategically and initiate solutions where necessary
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Working knowledge of the regulatory environment affecting student financial aid preferred
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience must include at least 5 years in a manager- or director-level position
  • Must be in, and maintain, good standing with the Department of Education for continued employment
  • Must successfully complete all National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NAFSAA) Professional Credentials within one year of hire according to the schedule provided by supervisor
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree and 4 years of progressively responsible experience in Higher Education, specifically in a financial aid office
  • National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NAFSAA) Credentialed Professional or Certified Financial Aid Administrator (CFAA) certification
Salary

Hiring salary range is $89,399 - $102,809

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
