Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The PT Specialist II, Maintenance and Special Events supports other staff by performing task oriented duties and operational support under general supervision. Its primary focus is on the set-up, break-down and maintenance of in-house event furniture and equipment. Hangs banners, signage, and other marketing resources as needed. Coordinates furniture requirements for events at the college, general administrative functions, and performs ground maintenance throughout the year.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Assist the Facilities Manager to configure the optimum event set-up and take down functions of all college event needs. Ensure set-up meets specifications for the events
  2. Responsible for displaying throughout the college, advertising, signage, and banners regarding the event
  3. Perform preventive, corrective and general maintenance services including installation, removal, repair of carpentry, drywall, painting, moving furniture, event setup and take down, operation of mechanical equipment, electrical, fire alarm systems, and plumbing systems
  4. Responsible for campus-wide recycling program
  5. Receive and respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding a variety of general event needs
  6. Electronically check-in and distribute all packages that arrive on campus
  7. May assist with basic administrative functions for college events such as (graduations, some weekends as needed for functions)
  8. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Must be able to understand and follow directions given orally and in writing
  • Physically capable of performing heavy lifting (50 pounds) and labor intensive work associated with facilities and events
  • Must be familiar with reading diagrams and schematics for event set-up and tear down as needed for indoor and outdoor events/activities
  • Capable of safely operating powered equipment, such as saws, drills, and sanders, and be able to determine which equipment to use for a particular purpose
  • Basic computer skills
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion, such as frequent climbing of tall ladders, lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
  • Equipment used includes,PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment; basic furniture maintenance/repair equipment such as hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, gas and electric powered tools and equipment typical in the maintenance industry such as weed eater, blower, push mower, power washer, lift, etc.
  • Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed inside and outdoors; exposure to normal atmospheric conditions, dirt, dust, weather variables, etc.; potential risks exist due to handling power tools, equipment, and chemicals
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED and at least 1 year of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must possess a valid Texas driver's license and be eligible for insurance coverage
Salary

Hourly Pay Rate is $13.00
