Job Description:


Longwood University invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Data Analyst (FA011) in University Analytics. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for University Analytics, this position supports the office's mission of championing a data-driven campus culture. This position will assist with the development of data management processes for reporting and analysis related to institutional decision-making and external reporting requirements. Specific responsibilities include data extraction and file creation and automation for required external reporting as well as internal data requests. The position will also make suggestions to constituents that seek to ensure data integrity, data quality, and issue resolution. The incumbent also must be able to organize, take initiative, prioritize his or her own work and adjust priorities as necessary. The ideal candidate will be someone that enjoys variety in their work day and approaches their work with a healthy curiosity about how the institution operates. There are various levels of data maturity on campus, the successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively and work with non-technical faculty and staff as well as those well-versed in data analysis.


Requirements:
  • Master's Degree preferred; Bachelor's Degree (preferably in Management Information Systems, Business, Information Systems or related field) or equivalent combination of work experience and/or training required
  • Demonstrate the ability to interpret problems and deliver the best data to inform solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments with critical deadlines
  • Skills in technical writing, coordinating, analyzing and interpreting data, and preparing for the presentation of technical and complex information to various audiences
  • Experience communicating effectively with various constituents including management
  • Expert working knowledge of SQL required
  • Experience in data extraction preferred
  • Experience with developing and maintaining targeted reports to meet the needs of external agencies as well as those of internal constituents is preferred
  • Higher Ed work experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Banner student information system preferred
  • No sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer
