Job Description:


In order to sustain and grow the Kinesiology program, Longwood University is seeking highly qualified and motivated applicants for a visiting assistant professor position (F0151) in the Kinesiology program in the Department of Health, Recreation and Kinesiology beginning August, 2024. The Kinesiology program offers a broad and rigorous academic curriculum that prepares students for post-graduate studies as well as excelling as practitioners in the field. The Longwood University Kinesiology program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Education Recognition Program.

The selected candidate will teach in areas of expertise at the undergraduate level in the Kinesiology program, contribute to curriculum development within the program, may advise students on course sequencing and career advancement, and assist in meeting department needs.


Requirements:
  • PhD in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Sciences or other related field required; ABD considered.
  • At least 3 years of undergraduate teaching experience preferred within the Kinesiology field that may include, but not limited to, courses such as Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, Strength and Conditioning, Motor Learning, Sports Nutrition, Research Methods, and Introduction to Kinesiology.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and excellent written, verbal, and listening skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships within a diverse community.
  • Commitment to Longwood University's and the College of Education, Health, and Human Services' mission, values, and vision.
  • Research agenda and service evidence are preferred, but not required.
  • A demonstrated ability and commitment to working with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and constituents in support of the university mission is preferred.

Additional Information:


This position is a full-time, one-year, non-tenure-track instructional faculty position. Salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience. A successful criminal background investigation is required. AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply.
