Job Description
Missouri S&T (Science & Technology) is searching for a dynamic and results-oriented Assistant Vice Chancellor for Business Operations and Strategy (AVC) to optimize our revenue-generating operations. The primary focus of this role is to provide unparalleled service to our students, faculty, and staff while enhancing overall efficiency, streamlining workflows, and ensuring seamless coordination among various departments.

As a pivotal member of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Operations (VC) cabinet, the AVC will lead revenue-generating business operations. This encompasses the leadership of crucial areas such as Parking Operations, Print & Mail, and Events & Hospitality Management. Tthe AVC will also exercise oversight over retail services and manage relationships with third-party dining and catering vendors. Additionally, responsibilities include managing university leases and overseeing other contractual agreements.

Primary Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and execute a strategic vision for revenue-generating operations, aligning with the university's overarching goals
  • Provide innovative leadership to optimize efficiency, effectiveness, and service delivery
  • Identify and develop external partnerships to support strategic initiatives
Operational Oversight:
  • Lead key business operations including Parking Operations, Print & Mail, and Events & Hospitality Management
  • Implement best practices to streamline workflows and enhance overall operational performance
Vendor Management:
  • Manage relationships with third-party retail, dining and catering vendors, ensuring service excellence and compliance with contractual agreements
Financial Management:
  • Work collaboratively with the finance team to develop and manage budgets for the assigned business operations
  • Identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost savings
Contractual Agreements and Leases:
  • Administer university leases and other contractual agreements, ensuring compliance and optimizing terms
  • Negotiate and draft contracts as needed to support business operations
Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
  • Foster seamless coordination among various departments, promoting effective communication and collaboration
  • Work closely with other members of the VC cabinet to align business strategies with broader university objectives
Continuous Improvement:
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance operational efficiency
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation in business operations
  • Collaborate with Business Intelligence team to develop relevant data analytics and performance metrics
Team Leadership and Development:
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in a relevant area and 12 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skill can be acquired.

OR

Master's Degree in relevant area and 10 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skill can be acquired.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in business administration, finance or related field
  • Project Management Certification
  • Experience at an institute of higher education
