  • The Department of Languages and Cultures at Molloy College invites applications for a Mandarin Adjunct Faculty position starting Spring 2024.

    Candidates must have:
    • a native or near native fluency in Mandarin,
    • a Master's Degree in Mandarin, or in applied linguistics or linguistics with a concentration in Mandarin or a related field,
    • a history of at least two years of successful teaching experience at the college level or equivalent,

    The Mandarin Section is part of the Department of Languages and Cultures, which also offers American Sign Language, Arabic, English as a Second Language, French, Italian and Spanish. Courses in the department are in their most part conducted in the target language and focus on providing meaningful communicative interactions and cultural experiences that promote cultural competency.

    The adjunct faculty members are responsible for:
    • preparing and delivering face to face instruction to undergraduate students in cooperation with the department's Chairperson and other faculty.
    • using a range of suitable strategies to foster student learning and encourage active learning in all students;
    • maintaining proper class-related records;
    • promptly assessing student's coursework and appraising students of progress;
    • meeting with students before or after class if they need to in order to attend to their course related questions.
    The ideal candidate will possess the ability to relate well to a diverse population of community college learners

    SALARY INFORMATION

    When determining the salary offer for a new employee, Molloy considers several key characteristics such as discipline specific knowledge, skills, education and experience as well as internal and external equity. The hiring salary range for this position is $1,130.00 per credit (Undergraduate Instructor) to $1,280.00 per credit (Graduate Assistant Professor). This hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of compensation at the time of posting.
