Position Summary:
Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Processing Archivist position in the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music.

The Processing Archivist will assist with the management of the collection of the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music, specifically the transition to ArchivesSpace and digitization. The Archivist is expected to arrange and describe materials, including analog, hybrid, and born-digital content, for conversion to ArchivesSpace, an open-source information management application for archival and manuscript materials. This position works with a small and busy team and will report directly to the Curator.
This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.

Required Degree, License or Certifications:
Bachelor's degree

Required Skills or Software:
Must be able to treat confidential and sensitive information appropriately

Required Years of Experience: 1

Other Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in history, art history, public history, library science, archival sciences or related field
  • One (1) year of experience working in the archival field or research services for special collections materials in a similar setting
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the procedures used to preserve various types of materials
  • Basic knowledge of ArchivesSpace and experience with archival digitization projects
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work well with colleagues, other employees, artists, donors, and lenders
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physical ability to lift fifty (50) pounds from varying heights, including the ability to push, lift, bend, kneel, and carry
